Baby & Children's Photographer Northampton

I met Harry and his Mummy and Grandma on Saturday morning. What a gorgeous little boy Harry is! Even though it was a dull old day outdoors he was a ray of sunshine: 5 months old and full of character, Harry was an absolute joy to photograph. At this age you can expect more 'in arms' shots as babies generally aren't able to support themselves sitting up but that was ideal as Harry's Mummy especially wanted some beautiful photos of the two of them together. This sneak peek is one of my favourites! Isn't that a cute little bottom and what a yummy mummy you are K :)

I'm best known for my nostalgic sepia portraits and 95% of my family portraiture is presented in this format. I also generally think newborns and younger babies look best naked or wrapped in a shawl, however, there is always room for exceptions. This morning's photo shoot with Holly, proves not only how gorgeous an 8 week old baby can look in a dress, which was a fabulous present from her grandma, but also what a beautiful colouring this little girl has. For good measure I'm showing another sneak peek of her in my signature sepia ~ naked of course!

These are some of my favourites from a family shoot before Christmas that I couldn't blog before now as lots of my photos were given as presents. I last photographed Finn at his old house so it was really lovely to see the family's gorgeous new home and celebrate beautiful Isla Rose's arrival. She was asleep when I arrived but soon woke up and enjoyed her first professional photo shoot! They came back for a Mini Shoot at Sywell  . . . see how much Isla has grown :)

Welcome Poppy ~ Baby Photographer Northants {Wendy Grant Photography}

Whilst I recommend scheduling your newborn photoshoot within the first two weeks after your baby's birth, especially if you're looking for the iconic curled up, sleeping images, there is no hard and fast rule about when you should book. Generally your baby will begin to lose her foetal curl after 7 days and will be much more alert from 4 weeks. A little older at 6 weeks, Poppy barely slept during her photoshoot but gave me an opportunity to capture her with those beautiful eyes open and present her Mummy and Daddy with a set of photographs recording this very special stage of her life.  Poppy's sneak peek was posted before Christmas but now I can share a few more with you. I just love those gorgeous little baby hands!

Welcome Layla ~ Newborn Photographer Hertfordshire {Wendy Grant Photography}

Now that we've welcomed in the New Year and everyone's had their Christmas presents, I'm able to share some more photographs from Layla's newborn photoshoot with her big brother Max. Layla was a little older than Max was at his newborn session as their Mummy and Daddy wanted lots of photographs of Layla with her eyes open, and at almost 6 weeks old, she was more alert than a brand new baby and looking absolutely scrumptious!

An Alternative Christmas Story {Wendy Grant Photography}

Every family has its own way of celebrating special events and occasions such as Christmas. We always like to have a 1,000 piece jigsaw on the go during the festivities and visit the cinema on Boxing Day; and it's become a family tradition to buy a Christmas decoration for the tree each year, recounting the stories behind them as we put the tree up. One of our very special decorations is a little wooden basket complete with stocking that we bought long ago when visiting Father Christmas at Clearwell Caves. A truly magical place that the children remember fondly.

Some of my favourite tree decorations include a jewel star from a visit to the Tower of London with my two sons; a beautifully delicate jester bought for me by a dear friend whilst visiting a Tate exhibition; a chunky Santa from the Fishmarket Gallery chosen by my youngest son whilst sharing a hot chocolate and brownies, and a pink metal lamb bought from our local chemist Jeyes, to also celebrate my grand daughter's birth. Many of the decorations are handmade by my children ~ from simple foil card stars to intricate hammerbead ones. We've even got knitted snowmen!

This year, for the first time in ages, I forgot to buy a Christmas decoration but my daughter thoughtfully remembered, and brought a beautiful bead heart from Namaste House to adorn our tree, proudly hung by four year old Elm. How lovely and very reassuring it is, that as the years roll by and our children grow, they take on the mantle of our family's history.

It's a while since I photographed my youngest son and he has been asking me to do a session with him for some time now. This afternoon's walk at Sywell with my grand daughter and our elderly labrador presented the perfect opportunity ~ a place we often visit as a family and where I've met with clients in the past. This is one of my favourites . . . I'm so pleased that I took my camera with me as next year I know he will soon change again on his journey to coming a young man just like his older brother.

Do you remember Ellen and her lovely family who had their photoshoot a week after moving to their new home? Well these are a few a my favourites from last month's session ~ they are all black and white as the first session I did with Ellen's family in 2008 was in this format. The house still has lots of original features including a beautiful full length sash window on the ground floor and fabulous fireplaces. I hope you're all settling in well and congratulations again on your lovely new home!

When you buy a new house most likely the last thing on your mind is to schedule a photoshoot. Not Ellen, whom runs Children's Shoebox! They'd only had the keys one week so some of the rooms still had bare plaster walls and old wallpaper remnants on the floor but it was a magical setting. Although it's more posed than my regular style, I just love the expressions on the children's faces in this photo, which has to be one of my favourites. Congratulations to you and your lovely family on your new home Ellen, and thank you for inviting me back again!

Children's Photographer ~ Aylesbury {Wendy Grant Photography}

There are so many of these I love it's hard to choose! Saturday's creative session with Glenda, whom runs Precious Memories, has been on the cards for so long that I was bursting with excitement when I finally got to meet her and her beautiful family! Glenda has the most amazing barn nearby complete with massive haybales ~ in fact her house and garden are a photographer's dream ~ so a spot of rain wasn't a problem. Enjoy your sneak peek . . .

Bump & Baby Photographer ~ Milton Keynes {Wendy Grant Photography}

Are you expecting a baby? Or do you know anyone whom is expecting one? If you're thinking about booking a bump and/or newborn photo shoot, or giving a bump & baby photo shoot gift voucher,  there's still time to see my Bumps & Baby work close up at Milton Keynes Hospital! I'm exhibiting in the MK Arts for Health changing exhibition space, very appropriately, by the Maternity Ward on level 2 above the main entrance reception. This is one of the photographs that has been selected for permanent display in the Parents' Rest Room in Maternity Delivery. I'd like to take this opportunity to say a really big thank you to my clients and the MK Arts for Health team!

Haven't They Grown! {Baby & Children's Photographer ~ Buckinghamshire}

It's always really lovely when my clients rebook and I never cease to be amazed at how much the children grow in between sessions. At Saturday's family photoshoot with two of her cousens, Frankie was barely recognisable from her newborn session in September! K bought a Mother's Day gift voucher for her Mum so that A could have all her grandchildren photographed together. It's sometimes difficult to arrange this and sadly L wasn't able to join them on the day ~ but we did get some lovely shots. These are some of my favourites . . .

Daisy {Baby & Children's Photographer ~ Cambridgeshire}

I met this gorgeous little girl on Saturday! Fresh from her swimming lesson and bright as a button 7 month old Daisy was a real joy to photograph. I just loved her brand new hat all ready for her trip to Australia to visit her grandparents and auntie who treated her to this very special gift. Why not take advantage of my March Madness offer and give your special person a really lasting present?
